  • Accomodation

St Andrews is mighty but small, so we recommend you book your accommodation quickly!

It is popular with locals and many international guests due to the golf, beaches, history and the university. There are various options for accommodation with a big price range. We have listed some of the more reasonable options below, but feel free to explore or stay further afield if needed.

    Student Accommodation
Want to walk home, save some money and relive your uni days? You can stay in your own student dorm without the students around. It's worth checking out as the accommodation is far better than the normal student digs.

    Airbnb
There are a few town based options for those that want their own pad, but still want to walk home. There are 1, 2, 3, 4 bed options, but book fast, as they are popular and limited!

  • Getting there

If you want to stay for longer we recommend having a car to make sure you can explore the beautiful coast line. However, don't worry if you don't have one, there are plenty of other ways to get to St Andrews.

    Car
Use the Google / sat nav / a map whatever helps you.

    Train
The nearest station is Leuchars, which has direct trains from Kings Cross. From there you can get a bus or you can grab a local taxi.

    Flying
The nearest main airport is Edinburgh, other options are Dundee, Glasgow or Aberdeen.
From Edinburgh Airport we recommend that you take the tram into Waverly station then a train to Leuchars.
Alternatively, you can easily hire a car from the airport.

  • Things to do
    Visit the beaches

There are two beaches in St Andrews, West Sands and East Sands. West sands is a long white sands beach, with a beautiful view up to the town. East Sands is a smaller, but equally beautiful beach next to the costal path and right by the pier. Both have a great cheese toasty shack if you get peckish. We recommend you check out both and take a dip if you are brave!
    Golf

St Andrews is the home of golf, so if you're a keen golfer bring your clubs. There are plenty of top quality courses in St Andrews and along the Fife coastline. Let us know if you need a hand picking one, but remember to book early.
    Practice your putting

If a full round of golf isn't your thing but still fancy a bit of friendly competition there is a local putting green appropriately named 'The Himalayas'. You may need to book 24hrs in advance if you want to play.
    Book a slot
    Jannettas

Like ice cream? Then you'll love Jannettas! With loads of delicious ice cream to choose from there is always a wait but we think it's worth it!

    Explore the coastal path

Get your walking boots on and take to the coastal path. Head out past east sand beach and explore the rugged coastal path. Beautiful beaches, seaside views and rolling paths await you.

Taste some local whisky or gin

If you have a car or can arrange transport a trip out to kingsbarns distillery is worth a visit. You can arrange a tour for either whisky or gin and have a few wee tasters to brighten your day. You will also be beside the beautiful cambo estate and gardens and the famous Kingsbarns gold course.

    Food

St Andrews is full of restaurants and cafes for you to explore. You can head to the cafe where Will met Kate, surround yourself with golf legends in the Dunvegan or dine in an Anderson favourite, Little Italy. As it's the summer we recommend to book ahead if you want to eat out.
    Longer stays

There is lots to do outside of St Andrews as well, so if you are planning a longer stay let us know and we can provide some tips along the beautiful coast of Fife.
